Adoptive T-cell therapy for cancer: boutique therapy or treatment modality?
نویسنده
چکیده
Adoptive cellular therapy, involving the ex vivo enrichment and expansion of antigen-specific immune cells for adoptive transfer, has emerged as an increasingly effective modality for the treatment of patients with advanced cancer refractory to conventional therapy.

Adoptive T-cell therapy of cancer.
Adoptive therapy involves the transfer of ex vivo expanded immune effector cells to patients as a means of augmenting the antitumor immune response. In general, this transfer is accomplished by harvesting cells from the peripheral blood, tumor sites, or draining lymph nodes and expanding effector cells in a specific or nonspecific fashion for adoptive transfer. This article describes the ration...
متن کاملTherapeutic potential of CAR-T cell-derived exosomes: a cell-free modality for targeted cancer therapy
Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-based T-cell adoptive immunotherapy is a distinctively promising therapy for cancer. The engineering of CARs into T cells provides T cells with tumor-targeting capabilities and intensifies their cytotoxic activity through stimulated cell expansion and enhanced cytokine production. As a novel and potent therapeutic modality, there exists some uncontrollable proces...

Background and Objective: Photodynamic therapy is a new therapeutic modality for the treatment of cancer. Photodynamic therapy uses an inactive drug and a light source to activate the drug to produce reactive oxygen species that destroy the cancer cells. In the present study, the effect of two different laser light sources on the efficiency of photodynamic therapy was evaluated using a breast c...
متن کاملCombining Adoptive Cell Therapy with Cytomegalovirus-Based Vaccine Is Protective against Solid Skin Tumors
Despite many years of research, cancer vaccines have largely been ineffective in the treatment of established cancers. Many barriers to immune-mediated destruction of malignant cells exist, and these likely limit the efficacy of cancer vaccines. In this study, we sought to enhance the efficacy of a cytomegalovirus (CMV)-based vaccine targeting melanoma by combining vaccination with other forms ...
متن کاملChimeric Antigen Receptor T Cell Therapy in Hematology
It is well demonstrated that the immune system can control and eliminate cancer cells. Immune-mediated elimination of tumor cells has been discovered and is the basis of both cancer vaccines and cellular therapies including hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Adoptive T cell transfer has been improved to be more specific and potent and to cause less off-target toxicity. Currently, there ar...
